About Bobber Marketing
Bobber Marketing is a collection of systems for integrating the Internet into your marketing. Executed properly, over time (sometimes a surprisingly short time) Bobber Marketing will help you:
- Cut your advertising budget by half. Alternately, with the same budget you’re spending now, you can increase your advertising results by double, triple or more.
- Build a ‘house list’ of customers who buy from you over and over. Treated properly, this list can provide infusions of business almost on demand.
- Cut down on unproductive time you and your staff spend answering the same customer questions over and over again.
- Train your customers to refer their friends, family and business acquaintances, and be happy to do it.
- Create profitable joint ventures with related businesses and even competitors.
I could go on, but I don’t want my own enthusiasm making this sound too good to be true. I want you to get the whole story and decide for yourself. Register for one of our free teleseminars, or add your name and email to get updates on our live appearances and more…
Why the Bobber?

The inspiration for Bobber Marketing came from the hard-working professional fishing guides that helped me fall in love with Southwest Florida. The AHA moment came when I made the connection between their fishing tactics and the marketing tactics I teach.
Prior to that, many of my explanations were doomed by using engineer-speak to describe systems, measurements, feedback loops, and so on.
Once I discovered that I could explain many of the concepts using fishing metaphors, things were much simpler…
For example, the bobber is a simple, elegant device that can be used to position a bait in a fishy zone, attract attention, and signal a bite. One of our email systems functions exactly the same way.
About John McCabe
I’ve been using the Internet to market products and services, both for myself and others, since 1996. I’ve worked with businesses ranging from large telcos to authors of a single book. I learned that I much preferred to work with smaller, independent businesses and independent-minded franchisees.
I hold a Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. The whole focus of my program was the interplay between man-made systems and biological entities. It turns out that there are many parallels between Ag Engineering and Marketing…
While I pursued that degree, I paid the bills selling light fixtures and accessories on commission for a small retailer. I worked with both consumers and contractors.
I grew up in Minnesota, where I developed my love of fishing at my parents’ “cabin” on a lake outside Minneapolis. Following graduation, I moved to Nebraska to work with a small manufacturer of pressure gauges. That’s also where my marketing business first took wing.
In 2005, my wife and I made the jump to Southwest Florida. The tropical climate, world-class fishing and friendly people made the decision to locate here a very easy one. The current tough economy inspired me to reposition my business to help the business owners in my own back yard survive and prosper.
